Frequently Asked Questions
• I am a Montanan, do I need to do a background check as of Oct. 1. What about the Montana Firearms Freedom Act (Montana House Bill 246)?
Yes, the Montana law becomes effective October 1, 2009. However, the federal law still states that we must comply with background checks and proper markings on all of our firearms. We will continue to conduct background checks and markings on all of our firearms until the legal system determines if Montana's state rights supercede the federal law as per the 10th Amendment of the United States Constitution.

Are we going to make a statement and take a stand against the federal law? No. We don't have the deep pockets yet to make bail and litigate. We have SI Defense employees to think about as well, we don't want them to be out of work when the Fed shut the doors. If anyone has a spare $30-40 million dollars to litigate, make bail and give us alternate employment and pay off the bills we might.
