NEMO Arms Announces Acquisition of SI Defense
Kalispell, Montana— NEMO Arms, Inc. is pleased to announce the acquisition of SI Defense and the formation of a joint venture between NEMO and their aerospace manufacturing counterpart, Sonju Industrial. The acquisition brings together the established and respected backgrounds of the two corporations for the purpose of a global launch in the design, manufacturing and sales of firearms under the NEMO flag.
NEMO Arms, Inc. was co-founded in Montana earlier this year by US Army Major General (RET) Paul Vallely, Clint Walker and Kirk Leopold in an effort to better facilitate the needs of military special operations and federal law enforcement. The group soon identified the advanced capabilities in design and manufacturing through SI Defense and Sonju Industrial and immediate planning began to combine their strengths and resources.
MG Paul Vallely, President and CEO of NEMO Arms, Inc. comments, “Our contacts in the Pentagon and CIA demand advanced solutions for their specialized mission needs. NEMO, which stands for New Evolution Military Ordnance, was founded on the commitment to design and build the finest ordnance in the world. We looked at many manufacturing solutions across the country and we found the best solution right here in Kalispell to enable us to carry out our mission.”
SI Defense was founded by Sonju Industrial in an effort to leverage their aerospace manufacturing and engineering expertise into the firearm industry. Since that time the company has released several modern sporting rifle designs (assault rifles) and built a solid business supplying parts and accessories.
Dick Sonju, President and founder of Sonju Industrial and SI Defense comments, “We have been a Montana family owned business for over 30 years. And we have had the privilege to evolve and develop our capabilities to the point where we have manufactured parts on some of the most sophisticated weapon systems the world has ever seen. We are taking our aerospace manufacturing methodologies including our quality AS9100 REV C accreditation and applying them to advanced firearms.”
NEMO began construction on its sales and manufacturing facility south of Kalispell and will open officially under one roof in late January. Plans are already underway at NEMO headquarters for an additional 23,000 square feet of buildings where Sonju Industries will operate its aerospace manufacturing. The new compound will also include a firing range and a finishing facility where parts will be anodized onsite.
Josh and Adyn Sonju will join the team at NEMO which is currently made up of former military intelligence, special operations and CIA operatives. The company plans to leverage its leadership team and newly acquired manufacturing capability to complete development on two patented weapon designs that will be released for sale in the first quarter of 2012. The acquisition and joint venture will make NEMO one of only a few gun companies in the industry with in-house design and manufacturing and with the ability to rapid-prototype weapons based on current operational needs of military and federal law enforcement.
NEMO Vice President Clint Walker adds, “A lot of people have been wondering what we’re up to over at NEMO—they’re about to find out.”
